Support and preserve the last ruling reptile on earth

The crocodile has been around for 185 million years, and since the end of the dinosaurs was one of the last ruling reptiles on earth. We want to secure the crocodile for another 185 million years

Climate change has led to several crocodile species becoming endangered

A crocodile can slow its heartbeat to two beats per minute and survive a year without food, but it cannot survive without a balanced habitat. This means that when we don't focus on climate, sustainability and biodiversity, the crocodile is neither superior nor more immortal than a koala bear. Crocodiles are being affected by climate change around the world, with some crocodile species now classified as critically endangered.

At Crocodile Zoo, we are internationally recognised for our work to capture, breed and release endangered crocodile species into habitats that can provide the right standard of living for these fascinating giant reptiles. When you support crocodiles through Crocodile Zoo, you support conservation and reintroduction projects around the world. By doing so, you help ensure the conservation of crocodile populations, sustainable ecosystems and good biodiversity around the world.

Conservation and release of Cuban and Orinoco crocodiles

Crocodile Zoo is working on conservation and reintroduction projects for Cuban and Orinoco crocodiles. Both crocodile species are currently critically endangered and it is estimated that there are less than 100 adult Orinoco crocodiles left in the wild. One of the few stable populations is found on the Capanaparo River in Santos Luzardo National Park in Venezuela.

We work with FUDECI to breed, raise and release both Cuban and Orinoco crocodiles in their natural habitats to support the conservation of a healthy crocodile population. We also support the local communities along the Capanaparo River in developing ecotourism that can bring economic benefits to the communities based on the presence of the orinoco crocodile.
