Krokodille Zoo is seeking a skilled and experienced zookeeper

About the position
We are looking for a professionally strong animal keeper with a solid overview, the ability to think in both daily tasks and long-term planning, and who can take responsibility for trainees, communication and operations. The position requires both practical work with animals and a clear focus on collaboration and development.

Your primary tasks

  • Ensure the welfare of our animals – every day and in the long term.
  • Plan, coordinate and delegate work tasks.
  • Observation and reporting of signs of illness. Supervision of the animals' welfare and well-being.
  • Participation in breeding and population management as directed.
  • Feeding, cleaning, enrichment and training.
  • Daily handling and potential movement of animals.
  • As part of our team of trained animal keepers, take joint responsibility for leading, training and supporting interns and trainees.
  • Convey knowledge and stories about our animals to the audience in an engaging manner.
  • Actively contribute to developing structures and routines in a growing organisation.
  • Work closely with colleagues and report directly to the director.


Who are you?

  • Trained animal keeper with a minimum of 5-8 years of experience.
  • Your first priority as an animal keeper is always the animals.
  • Gladly with experience with cats, mammals and birds.
  • You must be able to communicate clearly and fluently in Danish and English, with German being a significant advantage.
  • Possesses strong leadership skills and can take responsibility, even in pressured situations.
  • Positive, proactive, hardworking, and solution-oriented – a true workhorse with initiative.
  • We understand the importance of flexibility – for us, the animals' welfare comes first, even if it means the working day becomes a little longer.
  • Loyal to animals, colleagues, and the organisation.
  • Can handle direct feedback – and use it constructively.
  • Understood that the role is not that of a head keeper, but as part of the team one works side-by-side with colleagues on operations – whilst also taking leadership for trainees and apprentices.

Pay and employment terms
In accordance with the current collective agreement and by agreement with the negotiating organisation.
The position is 37 hours per week. Please be aware that weekend work will be required.
